Having had the privilege of being the Monster Energy Pit Reporter this past summer, there’s one thing I can honestly say about the Vans Warped Tour: it’s not a tour, but rather a music community unlike any other.

Today the Warped community mourns the loss of one of its own— Mitch Lucker, the lead singer for Suicide Silence. Mitch and his band toured with the Vans Warped Tour in 2010 and were part of the No Room For Rockstars documentary.

My thoughts are with his family, bandmates, fans, and of course the Warped community.

Rest easy, Mitch.

2012 Monster Energy Pit Blog: Day 1 Salt Lake City

The 2012 Vans Warped Tour kicked off at the Utah State Fair Park in Salt Lake City. The weather was gorgeous, and everyone was having a great time! We stopped by the Klean Kanteen tent first thing in the morning to fill up our reusable water bottles with FREE filtered watered!

While wondering the fair grounds, we came across the Punky Pets tent who let us know they have a new mobile app available where you can score free music from you favorite Warped bands!

As the day carried on, we bounced around stages catching sets from Of Mice & Men, Mayday Parade, All Time Low, New Found Glory, Yellowcard, and of course The Used— who brought in the largest crowd for their hometown show. Can we say circle pit around the soundboard?

All in all, a great kick off for the 2012 Vans Warped Tour, and this is just a taste of what’s to come this summer!
